Episode 23: A Conversation About Screen Time

In episode 23, Adam Geisen leads a panel of Mike Wielgus (Instructional Technology Coach), Sarah Phelps (Elementary Computer Science Teacher), Amy Van Hoose (District Curriculum Coordinator), and Dr. Rodney Winslow (High School Principal) in a conversation about screen time.


Sarah Phelps

My name is Mrs. Sarah Phelps. I previously taught 4th grade at Henning Elementary for eight years. I currently teach computer coding and programming to 4th and 5th graders district wide as well as STEM choice for Henning and Silver Creek. I am the IMSA coordinator for Henning, and host coding clubs each semester at the elementary schools. I love science and technology!


Dr. Rodney Winslow

  • I was born in Taiwan while my parents were working as missionaries there. I graduated from Morrison Academy in Taichung, Taiwan in 1992. Living and travelling overseas broadened my worldview and helped me appreciate global issues. I returned to the United States to complete my undergraduate degree in biology secondary education at Greenville College in 1996. I have a masters in educational leadership from NEIU, and a doctorate in educational leadership from SIUE. I taught high school biology, chemistry, and earth science for eleven years in three separate districts at South Beloit High School in South Beloit, IL, Zion-Benton Township High School in Zion, IL, and International Christian School in Hong Kong. I joined the administrative team at Triad in 2007. I love to spend time with my family. I enjoy running and biking, as well as hiking 14,000-foot peaks in Colorado. I have a wonderful wife, four energetic sons, and one beautiful daughter. I am privileged to work with a great staff and lead the amazing students at Triad High School!
